"Toys From Times Past" from wood is my joy and my living. In designing
and making each toy, trick, and "executive" puzzle, attention
to detail is important. Beginning with rough boards of cherry, walnut, maple,
and mahogany, I plane, size cut, and sand the wood until it is ready to
be used. I then make the many different parts involved in the various toys.
I also use the lathe to turn several of the toys. Many of the puzzles have
secret, internal locks and I especially enjoy this challenge. Danish oil
is used to finish the over sixty items I currently create. Upon completion,
the toys display the beauty of the hardwoods and create opportunities for
fun and challenge for all ages. My wife, Dawn, has been my helper in the
business, assembling toys, doing historical research, and demonstrating
at shows with me.
