The Ball
'n Cup toy has been one of the world's most popular toys. It has been
found in nearly every culture throughout history. In the mid 1500's it
was known as the bilboquet and was often mentioned in the diaries of the
wealthy and educated. It was recorded that the daughter of Marie Antoninette
owned an ivory bilboquet. French engravings often portrayed members of
nobility and the upper-class enjoying the game. The Ball 'n Cup is not
a game reserved for the sophisticated however. When Captain Cook discovered
the South Sandwich Islands in 1775 he found that the natives had a primitive
version of this game already!
The Challenge: How many times in a row can you catch the ball in the
cup? |
